Wearing glasses for more than half of my life drove me to explore getting contact lenses. When I was younger, I remember my mother having contacts. They were rigid and uncomfortable. They would slide around her eyeball, causing her to blink and adjust her contacts. These adjustments often happened on the highway at 60 miles per hour. This first impression of contact lenses had chilled any desire I might have had for the lenses. Vanity pushed me to reexamine my decision.
Once I had the prescription and approval from my eye doctor that I could use contact lenses, I started my investigation intoCheap Acuvue Contact Lenses. I found out that contact lenses came in different sizes, to account for different human eye size and shapes. I found that there were different brands available for contact lenses. These brands include Acuvue, Avaira, Expressions, Biomedics, Focus Dailies, Durasoft, Freshlook, Soflens, Purevision, and Aqualens.
Acuvue was the first on the list alphabetically, so I tried them. They were a bit itchy the first couple of days I wore them, but my doctor advised me this was normal. I started wearing the lenses a few more hours each day until I was wearing them all day long. However, I needed to put drops in my eyes all day long to keep them from being too itchy to wear. I complained to my doctor and he recommended that I switch from the standard Acuvue to the Acuvue with Hydroclear. These contacts were much more comfortable and I was able to wear them without constantly putting drops in my eyes. I had found my contacts.
Armed with my newly found talent for wearing contact lenses, I investigated other types of discount contact lenses. I discovered that there were commercially available contacts that could give me vampire eyes or the mirrored contact lenses of movie special effects. The ones called Freshlook contact lenses could even change my eye color. There are gothic contact lenses and theatrical contact lenses that you wear just for fun instead of for vision correction. There were so many choices of fun contact lenses I was disappointed that I needed to wear mine only for vision correction. When I looked into contact lens pricing, I discovered that there are discount contact lens dealers, too.
When I first got my contacts, I was afraid to put them in my eyes. I had to learn what to do. Here's what I learned.
- 1. Wash your hands.
- 2. Open the lens case of the lens to put in first.
- 3. Empty the lens and the storage fluid into your hand.
- 4. Rinse the contact.
- 5. Put the lens on the finger you will use to put in the lens.
- 6. Use your other hand to pull your lower lid down a bit.
- 7. While your lid is lowered, push the lens onto your eyeball.
- 8. Blink to pull the lens onto the eyeball and position it.
- 9. Repeat with the other lens.
